Molecular detection and adaptation of FMD virus serotype type O in BHK-21 cell line by RT-PCR

One of the viral diseases affecting both domestic and wild animals in many countries around world is foot mouth disease (FMD). The livestock sector has been suffering significant financial losses for years as a result disease. present research work was focused on isolation, documentation serotyping Foot Mouth Disease (FMD) virus from different locations. Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) used to detect FMD (FMDV) serotype-O that currently circulating BHK-21 cell line. All tested samples were positive FMDV specific 64.67-52.67% tongue epithelium tissues 30.67-16.67% respectively based In lines, viruses caused cytopathic effects such rounding, enlargement, intercellular bridge breakdown, finally, death cells, which shows presence under an inverted microscope. culture fluid found also CPE. Once more, resulting inoculum serotype using RT-PCR. Based RT-PCR method, conclusion reached ‘Type O’. Asian J. Med. Biol. Res. 2023, 9 (2), 14-22
